Valley Brook Farm

Valley Brook Farm, which today is remarkably well-preserved, can be yours for $2.25 million.

One extraordinary property in Radnor that is currently for sale is the estate known as Valley Brook Farm, located on Goshen Road.

It was built in 1914 from a design by architect Charles Willing for the firm of Furness, Evans & Co. That office was founded by Frank Furness (who had died in 1912) and Allen Evans, who together designed some of Philadelphia's most recognizable and distinctive buildings of the late 19th century (and even some suburban estates such as Radnor's Harford mansion, now known as the Creutzburg Center).

By 1914 the work of the firm that still bore their name had little resemblance to Furness and Evans' groundbreaking work of thirty years before, though it was a launchpad for a number of younger architects who would later find prominence, among them Charles Willing. Within a few years of Valley Brook Farm's construction, Willing co-founded the prestigious Philadelphia firm of Willing, Sims & Talbutt.
