Swingin' The Night Away

Retired pastor brings his swing era band for a night of music listening and dancing to Christ Church in Villanova.

Retired Radnor minister brings a night of swing dance to the Main Line.

Fr. Ron Parker, professional guitarist and Rector Emeritus of Christ Church, Ithan, has teamed up with former Airmen of Note and other service band members to form the ten piece band, “The Timekeepers.” They will perform big band music of theswing era in line with Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa on Sunday, February 10 thfrom 5:00- 9:00 p.m. at Christ Church, Ithan in Villanova.

Dinner and a glass of wine are included. For tickets please call Christ Church at 610-688-1110. Ticket price is $25.00 per person.

“We’ll construct our dance floor and put out a delicious meal all in anticipation of great music and dancing,” explains Fr. Kevin J. Moroney. “This is part of Christ Church’s commitment to providing high quality music and fellowshipin our community,” he added.

Prior to preparing for a life of Christian service, Fr. Parker earned degrees in Music Composition and Music Education. He was a Professor of Music at the New School University in New York City and has worked as a studio musician and accompanist for several stars, including Judy Garland.

Peter Jansen will perform with the “The Timekeepers” on trombone. Principal Trombonist for the 276th Army Band, Peter has played with Grover Washington, Jr. and Bobby Rydell. Tom Alessi will play baritone saxaphone and he brings to the band years of experience playing with various music groups; including Julius La Rosa, Al Alberts and Danny & the Juniors. There will also be a guest vocalist.
