Meet Radnor's New Children's Librarian

Andrea Elson is new to the Radnor Library.

Andrea Elson always knew that she wanted to work with children. The new Children's Librarian at said her hiring is a "big step up" for her. She started working at the Radnor Library in July.

A native of South Jersey, Elson said she is glad to be back in the region after working in Northern New Jersey, where she worked as a Library Associate. She studied History at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and received her Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

In addition to buying the nonfiction books and creating displays for the Children's Department, Elson will be leading Storytimes and other activites, including craft programs.

A former gymnast, Elson said that eyecatching displays and entertaining (but informative) books help attract children to the library and to reading. To help children become good readers she suggests that parents encourage kids to read as much as they want about whatever topic interests them.
