Family photos everywhere?

How it can hurt your home sale.

Do you like to admire family photos when you are a guest in someone's home?  I do.  Adorable babies, wedding pictures, vacation shots - most of us are naturally curious to look.  But when it comes to selling your home, family photos are a big "no no".

If I am listing a home that has an abundance of family photos, one of the first things I will ask the owners to do is to lovingly put the photos in storage until they can hang them in their new home.

There is a very simple reason for this. You don't want potential buyers looking at photos of your family in your home - you want your buyers picturing their family in your home. I have seen many buyers distracted when viewing homes that have multiple family pictures - they seem to be looking more at the pictures than at the home itself!

There are some buyers that can and do get past it.  But why take the chance? You want everything working in your favor when your home is on the market and removing family photos is an easy way to get an advantage.
