New Report Says Number Of 'Green' Homes Will Jump

Are you willing to pay more up front for longer term savings by building green?

I was reading today on the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors Just Listed blog how a new report from McGraw Hill's Green Home Builders and Remodellers Study.

Whilst I find there is a lot of talk about green building, few home owners are willing to invest in "Green" without the subsidies that are available. Cost is still an over riding factor for those building a home and many green features add additional costs to a home.

This is not to say there are no green homes being built , just far fewer than I expected. Would you be willing to pay extra for a "Green" home?

What features are you willing to pay for first?

Some of the obstacles to consumers choosing green is a lack of consumer education, but many builders are seeing these obstacles reducing as buyers are becoming more informed and selecting green features for either new construction or remodelling projects. The perceived value of savings is beginning to outweigh the higher initial cost for many home owners and those buying new construction.
