Independence Square: America's Birthplace

...ever wonder why Independence Hall looks like it does?

Coming up on Tuesday, October 23 (new date) at 7:30pm, Radnor Memorial Library and Radnor Historical Society will co-sponsor another inspirational Pennsylvania Humanities Council event.

Commonwealth Speaker, George Boudreau, will explore Independence Hall and the Square that surrounds it. Boudreau is an Associate Professor at Penn State and the author of Independence: A Guide to Historic Philadelphia. At the event, the author will discuss why the Hall sits where it does, why it looks like it does, and how its creation reflects the culture and society of 18th century Pennsylvania.

This presentation is a program of the PHC, a Federal-State partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The PHC inspires people to come together and share a life of learning. Since 1973, the PHC has provided resources that empower local groups to help their communities explore history, literature, the arts and the idea that shape the human experience.
