Alleged Thief Caught Because of Vigilant Neighbor
Police say call them if you see something suspicious. One man did.
A man was caught stealing a lawn mower, copper gutters and white aluminum flashing on May 22 on King of Prussia Road, Radnor Police say.
According to a police incident report, William H. Byrd, Jr., of Upper Gulph Road in Wayne, was seen pushing a cart of scrap metal and a lawn mower on King of Prussia Road that morning.
A man reported the scene to police, who followed up with Byrd.

According to police, Byrd said, “I got the shit from a house on Glenmary [Road]. I don’t even want it. I will take it back. The guy said I could have it.”
But the property’s owner said he gave no one permission to remove anything, the police report states.

Byrd was charged with theft, trespassing, and possession. Police found a small silver pipe — the type commonly used to smoke crack — in Byrd’s possession.
