Alleged Thief Caught Because of Vigilant Neighbor

Police say call them if you see something suspicious. One man did.

A man was caught stealing a lawn mower, copper gutters and white aluminum flashing on May 22 on King of Prussia Road, Radnor Police say.

According to a police incident report, William H. Byrd, Jr., of Upper Gulph Road in Wayne, was seen pushing a cart of scrap metal and a lawn mower on King of Prussia Road that morning.

A man reported the scene to police, who followed up with Byrd.

According to police, Byrd said, “I got the shit from a house on Glenmary [Road]. I don’t even want it. I will take it back. The guy said I could have it.”

But the property’s owner said he gave no one permission to remove anything, the police report states.

Byrd was charged with theft, trespassing, and possession. Police found a small silver pipe — the type commonly used to smoke crack — in Byrd’s possession.

Is this guy part of Byrd Hauling in Wayne? They live on the same street. Too bad about this- Byrd Hauling is a great company and usually just take away things you give them permission to haul off!

Dealt with Ike Byrd Hauling for years, hope it's not related, his wife is always a pleasure to deal with over the phone when you call the business.
