It's hard to read these ever-more-frequent stories of violent crime in our community, as cowards such as this attacker prey on those they feel are unlikely or unable to resist. I applaud this woman's courage in freeing herself and calling 9-1-1. I hope she considers pepper spray (at the very least) as a self-defense option for the future. I hate the fact that "being aware of my surroundings" has replaced an earlier assumption of safety here in Wayne. It's like Philadelphia has come to Radnor -- and not in a good way.
JJRedRaider June 20, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Why..Are you the suspect?
JJRedRaider June 20, 2012 at 12:29 PM
That kind of racism is the problem!
JJRedRaider June 20, 2012 at 12:30 PM
We are all neighbors and all Americans! We should be able to live and trust, black or white...people like YOU are the problem!
Lindsay June 20, 2012 at 01:27 PM
JJ, to whom are you directing your comments? I don't see any mention of race in this article.

Race has no part in this discussion. Is the Board of Commissioners aware that the reputation of living in and around Wayne may soon be tarnished? Who would ever believe that walking in Wayne at 10 PM could be dangerous?
justwondering June 20, 2012 at 05:30 PM
Reputation? I could care less what others think of my town as long as all of my neighbors and family are safe....I hope that ALL citizens would think this way.
travon black June 20, 2012 at 06:53 PM
So you don't think Radnor should have any Black Americans on the Police Force?
travon black June 20, 2012 at 06:55 PM
Why do you Radnor People get upset when I mention the fact the Radnor has no Black Americans on the police Force. Are you trying to hide this fact.
justwondering June 20, 2012 at 07:02 PM
I do not get mad - and as far as hiding it? How could they? I think that you should bring this concern to the Board.................................lets not just click our teeth - lets get results.
travon black June 20, 2012 at 07:24 PM
Justwondering...The same way they hire other Races is the way you hire Black Americans. I know someone is going to mention the bull about they hire base who has the best test scores, which no one can see the results. The board is another problem..all white.
justwondering June 20, 2012 at 07:28 PM
Okay - so what do we do? Keep just bitching about it on the web???? If you really want to make a difference, it requires some hard work and hard words. Even though I am a white person, I believe that we could all benefit from seeing some minorities in position of power in this town........no doubt. But we have to start somewhere. When I was a kid, there was a black officer -in fact, he was a lead detective - so we know that we can find qualified minorities - lets just apply some pressure.
justwondering June 20, 2012 at 07:30 PM
You have to find out if there have been qualified applicants and then, you have to find out if they have done any "outreach" to minority groups to encourage applications..........start there.............we can make a difference, but we need to get off our butts and walk the walk...not just bitch.

Travon Black - Please tell me your greatest concern is not the racial composition of the Wayne, PA police force. I think your time and efforts could be much better spent elsewhere. Do you even live in Wayne? Wikipedia says it is 2% black.
travon black June 21, 2012 at 01:34 PM
Don't think for me! I am a FREE THINKER. Now you get it,the racial composition of the Wayne, PA police force is a concern. I don't care if Wiki says I'm the only black American in Wayne. When ever I see a business has no Black Americans, I am concern. Black Americans need work, plain and simple.
insanelomein June 21, 2012 at 11:26 PM
Travon, Your references merely show the racism which has been instilled in you. Please check again about your so called anti-black main line. I have worked on the main line for a number of years and there are plenty of employed blacks along with a multitude of black clients, many which you have turned a blind eye to yourself. You are not a free thinker, you are the epitome of the term "sheep". And just food for thought, the kids name is TRAYVON, not Travon.
travon black June 22, 2012 at 12:26 AM
@Insanelomein, racism has not been instill in me, I live in a racist town, I cannot be a racist I have no power that can effect peoples life. I raise awareness of racism as I see and experience it. Do you have a problem with that? How can you tell me I'm not a free thinker? My name is travon, black not what you want "Trayvon". Problem is you want to School me, those days are over.
