Counterfeit Currency Passed in Wayne

The Radnor Township Police Department has issued a crime alert for incidents involving the passing of counterfeit $20 and $50 bills in Wayne.

The Radnor Township Police Department has issued a crime alert for incidents involving the passing of counterfeit $20 and $50 bills in Wayne.

Over the previous two weeks an attempt was made to pass a counterfeit $50 bill at Chili's Restaurant, 312 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne.

On May 25 an employee of McDonald's restaurant, 516 West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne passed two counterfeit $20 bills there. A subsequent police investigation ensued which yielded the arrest of the employee who was charged with Theft, Theft by Deception and related offenses.

Merchants and residents are urged to contact the police immediately by calling 9-1-1 if you suspect a person is attempting to pass counterfeit money.

Radnor Police recommends that you log onto the United States Secret Service website or the US currency website for additional information in recognizing counterfeit United States Currency.

Similar incidents occurred one year ago in the Wayne Business District.
