Drunken Man Changes Tire After Accident, Police Say

Traffic was flowing smoothly at the U.S. Open last week, but so was the beer.

One man was charged with Driving Under the Influence and another cited for Public Drunkenness in separate incidents after attending the U.S. Open last week.

While Radnor Police were mostly concerned about maintaining traffic flow, which went “very smoothly,” Lt. Andrew Block said, there were a few U.S. Open-related incidents that they handled.

Police said they found one Maryland man trying to change one of his car’s tires under what looked to be an off-balance car jack on June 14. The jack looked as if it “could make the vehicle fall,” according to a police report.

Richard Charles Mackey, 58, was trying to change the tire after being in a car accident in the area of Darby-Paoli Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to police.

Mackey, who police said exhibited signs of drinking, told police that he had been drinking at the U.S. Open. He was charged with DUI.

Another Golf Enthusiast Passes Out at St. Aloysius

One day later, a police officer found Corey M. Snyder, 38, of Hatboro, passed out in the grass at St. Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr around 4 p.m.

Police said that Snyder appeared “extremely intoxicated” and could not balance himself enough to stand. He told police that he had been drinking at the U.S. Open.
