How Not To Become A Victim Of Burglary While On Vacation

Follow these tips from Radnor Police when you go away.

Summer time in Radnor for many means going away on vacation. Going away on vacation for many means leaving your house empty and unwatched for days or weeks.

And going away for a few people this summer will surely mean a burglary.

But Radnor Township Police say there are things you can do to minimize your chances of becoming a victim.

1. Sign up for the police department's Vacant House Watch Program, in which a police officer will check on your property while you are away. Register for the free program here.

2. Stop your mail and any newspapers.

3. Put both lights and a radio on timers.

4. Notify your neighbors that you are leaving and ask them to keep an eye on your home.

5. If you do participate in the Vacant House Watch Program, include in a note the name and number of someone local that you have given your house keys and pertinent information to in the case that police need to access your home.
