Inspection Sticker on Conestoga Road Accident Car Potentially From Another Vehicle

The 2001 Nissan Altima that Tanisha Johnson had recently purchased was "no way worthy of being operated on the road."

The 2001 Nissan Altima that Tanisha Johnson was driving early on October 31 and struck two teenagers with was “no way worthy of being operated on the road.”

In fact, that they believe that the valid inspection stickers on the car had been issued for another vehicle.

Johnson recently purchased the car at a car dealership in Darby.

Colarulo said he believed she purchased the car in the as-is condition with the valid inspection sticker in its window. He said he believes that Johnson bought the car “in good faith,” but that she should have known that it was not safe to drive because of its bald tires.

The tires contributed to the car losing traction as it came around a curve on Conestoga Road around 6:53 a.m. Halloween morning.

The police department’s investigation revealed that she was going too fast for conditions, but that she was not necessarily going above the 35 mile per hour speed limit.

Among the numerous motor vehicle violations Johnson has been charged with is operation of a vehicle at unsafe speed and operation of a vehicle without a functioning horn.

“She did everything by book, but does not relieve you of the responsibility to know you should not drive a car like that,” Colarulo said of her purchase of the car.

“You can buy better tires at a junk yard,” he said.

Johnson has no previous driving infractions, according to police. She is a novice driver, police said.
