Police Blotter: Burglary in Villanova and Theft in Rosemont Reported

Police reported last week's crimes Monday afternoon.

Lower Merion Township police reported last week's crimes and incidents Monday afternoon, April 18, in a weekly briefing to news media.

Burglary: Police said a burglary occurred between 8:40 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. April 29 from a residence on the 600 block of Spruce Lane in Villanova. Police said about $3,500 worth of jewelry was stolen while the residents were at work. The homeowners noticed their possessions were out of order and out of place upon returning home, police said. They discovered a rear basement door had been shouldered open and that the burglar had gone through a number of drawers around the house, police said.

Attempted burglary: Police said they responded to the 1700 block of Cedar Lane in Villanova at 2:52 p.m. April 27 to a report of an alarm activation.  Upon arrival, police discovered attempted force to the front door, and it appears the alarm scared off the would-be burglar, police said.
