Police: Man Stole Two Flat-Screen TVs from 'Nova's Pavilion

Radnor Police say that a 20-year-old man came back to play basketball at Villanova University's Pavilion less than 24 hours after stealing two flat-screen televisions from the athletic building.

Around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 surveillance cameras in the basketball stadium show three people stealing two TVs. One person's face was clearly identifiable.

That night Cpl. Walt Sherman went to the Pavilion, where members of the Villanova and Radnor communities are able to use the facility. At about 8:40 p.m., Sherman, said, the man captured on film appeared to play basketball. When public safety officers stopped him, he fled out of the building, Sherman told Radnor Patch. He was taken into custody outside.

According to police, the man is from Upper Darby and is not a Villanova student. But a Villanova University campus ID card (“Wildcard”) is required to access any of the athletics’ facilities, said a university spokesperson.

Only Villanova students, faculty and staff with a University ID – as well as Radnor residents who have a card through the “Friends of Villanova” program – can access the facilities. Recreational use of the Pavilion is reserved for students, faculty and staff, he said.
