Can someone please explain whether or not Radnor PD can enforce the speed limit on Route 30? I've heard some say that it is a State highway and that only the State Police can enforce the speed limit. What's the truth?

They make traffic stops on Route 30 so I am pretty sure they can.

I never see speed traps set up on Route 30.....and many cars travel at speed of 50mph through the 25mph zone of downtown....

Charlie, I am with you this "Speeding in Wayne", it really is at a crisis level and only a matter of time until something very very bad happens to a pedestrian, From what I have heard - and I cannot confirm this - the reason (aside from the severe lack of man-power) that speeding violations are rarely enforced, is that the Township only receives 20% of the ticket revenue, and the State takes 80% of the revenue; therefore with the lack of man-power, the 'word' is do not tie-up officers with low-profit revenue enforcement, and keep what few officers we have free and available.

Radnor Police DO set up speed traps on Route 30. Going east on 30 just past Villanova Stadium. I never see them in Wayne, which could really use some slowing down. Generally I have seen a drop in the traps since Officer Martha (forget last name) left the force. She knew how to catch 'em!

It would be great if someone from the RPD or Township provided a clear answer. Speeding on Route 30 through downtown Wayne is ridiculous. If it's manpower, perhaps the Police Superintendent can deputize some volunteer citizens or do some other type of creative program. I'd volunteer to help.

and those "speed traps" are located at that precise location because that is where they are likely to catch Drunk Drivers (between the Bryn Mawr bars and V.U.),... DUI's are HIGH PROFIT,.. so again, there placement has more to due with revenue than anything else - catch them for speeding along that strip, and chances are you just caught a DUI as well,.. which is not the case on 30 and N.Wayne ave at 3pm,... where you have just speeders (low profit, high man power expenditure)
