Radnor Closer to Filling its Ranks

The township could increase its police force by 10 this year.

If you've worked with the Radnor Police Department over the past few years you may have heard multiple times how short handed the department is. Officers who have left have not been replaced.

On Monday, Radnor's Board of Commissioners approved eight new hires subject to the 2013 budget and the newly-agreed-upon contract with the Fraternal Order of Police.

In March, the board voted to extend two conditional offers of employment to applicants on the eligibility list for Lateral Police Patrol Officer Position.

“It is hard to say exactly where we will end up because we cannot predict retirements,” Board of Commissioners president Elaine Paul Schaefer told Main Line Media News. “But we are confident that even if all the new officers accept their offers and pass through the remaining testing, we are in a position to cover them in our 2013 budget and beyond."

What do you think about Radnor hiring new police officers? Have you noticed the shortage of officers?
