Radnor Police Investigating Strong-Arm Robbery

A man had his cell phone stolen at Villanova University, police said.

Radnor Township Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery Sunday, July 20, at Villanova University.

The victim, an adult male, reported to police that he had been playing basketball with friends on the university’s main courts. Around 9:15 p.m., he sat on a bench just outside the court to make a phone call when he was approached by by a man who ordered him to get off the phone, police said.

The perpetrator then told the victim to “shut up and don’t move,” police said, and put his hand into the waistband of his shorts. He then demanded the victim’s cell phone.

The perpetrator fled on foot toward North Ithan Avenue, police said. 

The perpetrator was described as a black male between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall. He is in his early 20s, with short hair, and wore a white tank top with gray stripes and black shorts.

A second man was seen near the basketball courts, police said, and fled with the perpetrator. He was described only as a black man.

The robbery remains under investigation by the Radnor Detective Bureau.
