Radnor Township: Rabid Raccoon Found at Willows

The animal was located and euthanized by Radnor Township Police.

A raccoon euthanized by Radnor Township Police over the weekend has tested positive for rabies, the township said Wednesday morning.

Radnor Township Police around 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, responded to The Willows following reports that a raccoon was acting strangely. The animal was located and euthanized.

The animal's remains were sent to the Pennsylvania State Lab in Lionville on Monday for testing.

The lab results confirmed that the animal did have rabies, the township said. The results came in Tuesday afternoon.

If you or anyone you know came into contact with the animal, please contact Health Officer Larry Taltoan and Ordinance Enforcement Officer William Gallagher immediately at 610-688-5600, the township said.
