Rash of Thefts at Villanova University

Computers have disappeared from the Jake Nevin Field House, among other places on campus.

Radnor Police are investigating a number of recently reported thefts from Villanova University.

  • A laptop valued at $1,500 was stolen from a backpack in the Jake Nevin Field House at Villanova University while its owner was helping with the Special Olympics event at the college on Nov. 3.
  • An office in the Field House was broken into and a $3,000 computer stolen sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 8:45 a.m. the following day. According to a police report, someone removed several screws that held a grate to the office door in order to enter through it. The grate had been replaced, but only two of the screws were put back to hold it up.
  • Another Villanova employee reported that a laptop computer was stolen from his office at the Field House sometime between 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6 and 10:30 a.m. the following day. The university-owned computer is valued at $2,700.
There was a rash of stolen laptops from the Jake Nevin Field House in 2012.
  • A laptop valued at $1,500 and a $400 iPhone were reported stolen from a bag in Villanova’s Pavilion while the victim was at cheerleading practice on Nov. 6. Her bag and other items in it were found in a trash can in the back of the Pavilion.
  • Light fixtures left at the Villanova Conference Center for an event were stolen between Oct. 5 and 7, it was reported to police about one month later.
