Single Ithan Accident Victim Remains in Hospital

Two brothers in a serious car accident had been cited for intoxication days earlier.

One of two Wayne brothers who were involved in a serious car crash on Feb. 23 at South Radnor-Chester and Newtown roads remains in stable condition in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

According to Radnor Police, John Ciccarelli, 23, and Michael Ciccarelli, 20, were trapped inside a Jeep Cherokee after a one-car accident that day around 6:30 a.m. at the Villanova intersection.

John is the one of four people in the car who remains in the hospital.

The two had been cited for public intoxication and drug possession two days earlier in town.

On Monday, Feb. 21 at about 11:15 p.m. police found two hypodermic needles in the pocket of Michael Ciccarelli after observing him and his brother “intoxicated” inside the Wawa in Wayne. Police said Michael later admitted to injecting heroin before being arrested.

Both men were cited for public intoxication. Michael Ciccarelli was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

After the accident Feb. 23 Michael Ciccarelli was flown to Hahnemann University Hospital. In addition to the brothers, two other people were in the car and were taken to area hospitals.

The crash is still under investigation by Radnor’s Traffic Safety Unit.
