Sketch Released in Bryn Mawr Purse Snatching

Do you know this man?

Radnor Police have released a sketch of the suspect who reportedly stole a woman's purse as she and her child sat in her car in the parking lot of 7-11 in Bryn Mawr around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.

According to police, a white man in his 20's or 30's, with a skinny build, white/gray t-shirt and blue jeans approached her in the driver's side window and requested a cigarette to be lighted. The woman signaled "no" and the man walked away.

But soon after, the same man went around the 7-11 and then rushed the passenger side door, entering the car and taking her brown Coach Bag that included a wallet and other items. He was last seen running into the center of the Home Properties of Bryn Mawr, but was not found.

If you have information on this crime, call Radnor Police at 610-688-0500.

Judging by how many punks have said it to their intended victims in movies and real life, "Gotta light?" has to be the classic distraction prior to an assault. It's particularly suspicious when it happens outside a store where free matches are available for the asking. This is another sad reminder that keeping car doors locked, even at 11:30 on a Saturday morning in Bryn Mawr, is a good idea.
