Two Men Reported Watching Children at Wayne School, Police Say

Students at St. Katharine of Siena saw a man taking pictures of children, another wearing a ski mask.

Two students at St. Katharine of Siena School in Wayne reported two separate incidents of suspicious men watching children outside of the school.

A 10-year-old reported on Monday, April 8, seeing a man in a white old-model Ford Econoline van parked on Midland Avenue around 10 a.m. taking photos with a smart phone.

He is described as a white man in his mid-20s with light brown spiked hair, black square sunglasses and a white sleeveless t-shirt. The van had a ladder rack on its roof and security bars on its rear windows, police said.

It was parked for 30 seconds to 1 minute, according to police. The man drove away onto South Aberdeen Avenue toward Conestoga Road.

While police were at the school on Wednesday, April 10, a 7-year-old reported that that morning at around 8:30 a.m. she saw a man sitting in a blue van in the parking lot across the street wearing a ski mask. He was not taking pictures.

What little skin was seen on his face was described as "light brown," according to police. The man drove away onto South Aberdeen Avenue toward Conestoga Road.

In both incidents there was no attempt to speak to children, said Lt. Andrew Block.

Tredyffrin Township Police are investigating a report that a man in a blue van attempted to lure children into the vehicle in the Deepdale section of Wayne in March.

Block said they do not know if any of the incidents are related. He said police have added patrols around local schools.

Radnor Police ask anyone with information to call 610-688-0503. Block also said that anyone who sees something suspicious like this should call 911 immediately.
