Update: Township Offering $1,000 Reward for Arrest of Suspected Area Pick Pocket

Suspect is armed and dangerous, according to Radnor Police Superintendent

Police Superintendent William A Colarulo announced Thursday that Radnor Township is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of Daniel Simmons.

Simmons, 48, is wanted on 13 separate arrest warrants in Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery and Chester counties. According to a release from the department, Simmons is wanted in connection to incidents of pick pocketing and using stolen credit cards in the Wayne area.

According to Colarulo, Simmons was last seen in Radnor in “late March,” using credit cards he had allegedly stolen from the pocketbooks of Township residents. He has allegedly stolen “numerous” cards from Township residents over the course of several weeks. He said that the department would be “relentless” in trying to apprehend him.

“The biggest mistake Mister Simmons made is when started to commit crimes in Radnor Township,” he said. “If [he] actually watches televisions instead of stealing them all the time [he’ll] understand that we’re going to be relentless in capturing [him].”

Simmons, a resident of the 5500 block of Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia, is wanted in the city for robbery and assault, and allegedly stabbed two women in the city during an incident. Colarulo said Simmons has “a career of being a criminal” and that he “had no regard for the law.”

Simmons is to be considered "armed and dangerous," Colarulo said.

“He is not going to stop,” he said. “He has show little or no regard for human life. Mr. Simmons, rest assured we are not going to stop until we find you. We will arrest you and put you behind bars.”

Colarulo said the $1,000 reward, which has been allocated by the Township manager to come from the department’s budget, is atypical for Radnor, but he felt it was “prudent and necessary.”

“I want to send a clear, loud message to Mr. Simmons that his criminal dealings in Radnor Township are over,” he said. “We are not going to tolerate this type of behavior.”

Residents with any information regarding Simmons are encouraged to call the police at 911 or to call the Township’s anonymous tip line at 610-687-8851.
