A New Township Building for Radnor, 1967

By Greg Prichard, Radnor Historical Society

Seen here are Radnor Township commissioners John Foster, Rocco O'Dorisio, and William Plummer, Jr., holding a rendering of a new Township administration building in 1967.

This new modern building was built on Iven Avenue, an isolated location compared to the township's previous home in the former rectory of St. Mary's Church on Lancaster Avenue in downtown Wayne.

The building, which was replaced in recent years with a larger township administration and police headquarters building, was designed by the George M. Ewing Company. That firm is perhaps best known as the designers of the Rohm and Haas Building on Independence Mall in Philadelphia, another example of modern architecture, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The firm also assisted in the design of Veterans Stadium.
