American Legion Hopes to Get Radnor Park Named for Veterans

A meeting is being held Thursday for the purpose of discussing a request by the Bateman-Gallagher American Legion post to have one of Radnor Township's parks named for local veterans.

A meeting is being held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of discussing a request by the Bateman-Gallagher American Legion post to have one of Radnor Township's parks named for local veterans.

The public is invited to the meeting, which will take place at the American Legion across Lancaster Avenue from the St. Davids Community Park.

Bill Madden, commander of the Bateman-Gallagher Post, said naming a park for Radnor's veterans "is not about the American Legion. It's about all veterans who served their country from our community."

If you can not attend the meeting but want to express your opinion about the matter, contact Radnor manager Bob Zienkowski, Madden said.

Madden said the name could be as simple as Radnor Veterans Park. The Legion is not requesting to name a specific park, but the township has suggested that the St. Davids Community Park could be an ideal candidate.
