Berwyn Caterer: Keep the Willows as Event Space

A tent to fit 150 to 175 guests is proposed off the back of the mansion.

One of the nine proposals that Radnor Township has received for the mansion and cottage at the Willows park on Darby-Paoli Road comes from Perfect Setting Catering in Berwyn.

According to the catering company's proposal, which you can read in the pdf section of this article, the goal is to book more weddings, which bring in the most money. The revenue projection under their plan shows the mansion bookings bringing in $208,300 by 2016.

"The township estimates that weddings accounted for a paltry 10-15 percent of event bookings between 2010 and 2012. That percentage should be closer to 50 percent," the Perfect Setting proposal reads. "Even though the Willows posts an in-season Saturday rate of $4300.00, over eighty-percent of all weddings at the Willows from 2010 through 2012 were booked by residents at an in-season Saturday rate of $3250.00."

"It might be a good idea to tighten up on residency requirements going forward and explore whether a 25% discount is appropriate," it continued.

The catering company proposes to partner with The Party Center in Phoenixville to enlarge the existing back patio and attach a tent (supplied by the tent partner) to the Solarium that seats 150 to 175 guests.

"In today’s market, many clients require a venue where all of their guests are seated in the same room. The Party Center will cover the cost of expanding the patio and supplying the tent package," according to the proposal.
