County's Services for the Aging Gets Award

The Social Security Administration presented a public service award at council meeting.

During Wednesday’s Delaware County Council meeting, the Social Security Administration presented a public service award to the county’s Office of Services for the Aging (COSA).

“To receive this award from Social Security is a great honor,” said Mario J. Civera Jr., vice chairman of the council.

The honorary award is given to people and organizations that contribute to the public service goals of the Social Security Administration, Civera explained.

COSA has jointed the administration for various projects, such as the Medicare Prescription Drug Program, according to Civera, adding that the administration is a sponsor of COSA’s .

This year’s luncheon is scheduled for May 8 at the Drexelbrooke in Drexel Hill.

Lynn Morton, the deputy area director of the Social Security Administration, presented the public service award to COSA Director Louis Colbert.
