Passports Halted at Wayne Post Office

Find out where you can apply for a U.S. Passport.

There may be signs and forms for U.S. Passports at the Wayne Post Office, but  service has been halted.

When seven clerks from Wayne were reassigned in August, it included those clerks who were trained to do passport services, said Cathy Yarosky, a communications specialist for USPS.

"We anticipate being able to provide passport services once again to Wayne customers at this office sometime in the future. We do not have a timeline set for this, however, we are working to make this happen," Yarosky told Radnor Patch.

Yorosky said that Wayne customers are sent to the Southeastern retail window for passport services. Other post offices with the service include: Bryn Mawr, King of Prussia, Ardmore, Malvern/Frazier, Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Blue Bell, Collegeville, and Montgomery County's Prothonotary's Office.

We're getting closer to losing our Wayne post office. This is just more proof that its days are numbered. I don't think any of us believes the story that they "anticipate being able to provide passport services once again to Wayne customers at this office sometime in the future". They're trying to send us to Bryn Mawr or Ardmore. We have some hard-working, terrific folks there who really care and offer excellent service (the friendly Lancaster Ave business district carrier, the efficient counterman on the right) -- but there are others who are making things worse. Is there anything we customers can do to save this post office?

Is this the P.O. On south Wayne or the distribution center on West Valley? I also noticed that "411 information" has segregated Wayne by county, and by their own arbitrary logic...for example, my opthomologist move from Old Eagle School Rd to West Valley (same phone & zip), but in the phone info system they don't exist. Whatever, but i'dlike to know & would love to know the logic so I can apply it elsewhere!

Yes, Catherine, I'm sure you are right. The service there now is worse than horrible. The inefficies of the Postal System have castrated and destroyed this post office.

Unbelievable! The closing of St. Davids, though sad, was understandable because of its proximity to Wayne. Wayne was always a very busy PO, now, with the staff cuts, the lines are out the door ... We all miss familiar faces who worked there for many, many years. Wayne is a great town, a great place to live, and certainly a vibrant and sufficiently populated community to support a post office.

Sometimes it feels like the USPS bigwigs are playing chicken with consumers by worsening service and daring us to find alternatives. Sadly for those on both sides of the postal counter, many have begun to accept the challenge.
