Democratic and Republican candidates won their respective primaries for the seats on the Board of School Directors in Radnor.

Democratic and Republican candidates won their respective primaries for the seats on the Board of School Directors in Radnor. There are five seats up for grabs this year on the nine-person board.

School board candidates in the state can “crossfile” for the primary race, meaning that voters from either party can vote for candidates from either party.

According to unofficial results from the Radnor Republican Party, Republican school board candidate and incumbent Pattie Booker got the most votes with 1,268. Of those, 991 were from Republican voters.

The rest of the members of the Republican slate—Howard Gartland, Chuck Madden (incumbent), Steven Modell, and Janie Partridge—will appear on November’s ballot on the Republican ticket.

On the Democratic slate, according to the Republican Party’s numbers, Lisa Borowski earned the most votes with 987, of which 700 were from Democratic voters. The rest of the slate—Eric Zajac (incumbent), Sheila Palmer, Kimm Doherty, and Eric Budin—also made it to the November general election.

In other races, incumbent District Justice John C. Tuten is running for a second term unopposed.

George Badey, chair of the Radnor Democratic Party, said that who wins in November's local races will be determined by which party gets the most voters out.

On this "off" election year, there is a lack of big races and big issues that might compel many voters to come out, he said.

Four seats on the seven-member Board of Commissioners are open this year. They serve four-year terms.

The candidates are listed with the number of votes they got in the primary. Commissioner candidates cannot crossfile.
