Radnor Police Report for July

Parking meter violations are up; more serious crimes are down from 2010.

The Radnor Police Department reports for the month of July:

There were 77 accidents in July versus 89 the same month last year. There have been 642 accidents this year versus 695 from the first seven months of 2010.

Parking meter violations for the month of July increased by about 1,300 violations when compared with the same month last year—2,703 versus 1,467. (A part-time staff member was recently added to the parking meter beat, which may explain the increase.)

Non-metered parking violations decreased this year from 203 to 109 in the seventh month of this year.

Juvenile dispositions (runaways, complaints and court referrals, for example) are down for the month but up for the year.

For the year through July, Class One offenses were down from 227 to 196. Class One offenses include robbery burglary and homicide.

Class Two offenses are up slightly from 2010 from 406 to 429.  Driving under the influence, vandalism and underage drinking are examples of second-class offenses.

Of the 15 residential burglaries that have taken place through July, 7 of them were “unforced,” meaning that someone came in through an unlocked door or window. There were five forced entry burglaries of non-residential buildings and three unforced so far this year.

There has been about $378,000 worth of property stolen through July this year, and about $91,000 of that has been recovered.
