Radnor Township: Rabid Raccoon Found at Willows

Radnor Property Taxes May Stay Flat

Parking tickets are likely to be increased by $5 to $20.

Radnor Township tax payers may see no real estate tax increase in 2013.

"The introduction of Radnor Township’s 2013 final budget passed by 7-0 Board of Commissioners vote Monday night. It sets the tax millage rate for 2013 at 3.7511 mills and the annual sewer service charges at $5.74 per 1,000 gallons of water used in 2012. The tax increase figures to be zero percent," reports Main Line Media News.

A fee of $36, to cover an increased municipal waste landfill “tipping fee,” although outside the budget, also needs to be dealt with, the newspaper reports. In other fee-related news, parking tickets are likely to be increased by $5 to $20, the same fee as in neighboring Lower Merion Township.

There will be a hearing and adoption of the final budget at a public meeting on Dec. 17.

Radnor Township could fill their coffers with fines from speed traps on Lancaster Ave between Radnor Chester Road and the Conestoga Road / Eagle Road intersection at the Farmer's Market. Route 30 has become a speedway, which means an opportunity for speeding fines for the Township while improving safety & the downtown experience. The town my brother lives in uses a volunteer citizen group to assist officers in speed traps, thereby reducing the number of officers (& cost) required for each speed trap down to 1 officer. Our Superintendent should look at this, so should our excellent Township Manager.

Wow! They (might) keep the budget at even. I've been out here for years doing that. What the hell took them so long?

Charlie is spot on! They could give 100 tickets a day at the Route 30 and KOP interchange for all the drivers who ignore the turn-only lane.

Metoxic....You really need to think before you type. The volunteers are trained to operate the radar equipment and radios. They set the volunteers on the front end of the trap with the equipment and have 2 volunteers down the road to assist the officer. The officer makes the stop and writes the ticket. The volunteers research the license plate number & the driver, communicate with the volunteers at the front of the trap and do whatever else the officer needs to assist the operation.
