Radnor Revises Trash Schedule Because of Snow

This week's trash and recycling schedule has been changed due to Winter Storm Janus.

This week's trash and recycling schedule has been changed due to Winter Storm Janus, according to Radnor Township. The trucks that collect solid waste and recycling are also used in storms of this forecasted magnitude for snow plowing.

There will be no trash collection on today, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 or Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

Recycling collection has been suspended for this week.

•          District 1 trash will be collected Thursday, January 23rd.

•          District 2 trash will be collected Friday, January 24th.

The normal trash and recycling schedule will resume on Monday, January 27, 2014.

While I understand the use of the trash trucks and crews to remove snow this decision could have been made earlier before everyone that is now at work put their trash curbside. It will now be covered in snow and no one will move it for two days to be put back out again. Everyone knew this storm was coming why couldn't this decision be made last night?

Thank to ALL your residents who are at work. I'll move my trash but RANDOR you realize that a good portion of your residents are at work?? By the time they can move their trash they'll be lost in the snow drifts on the street. It 9:30. Trash could have been picked up already.

It didn't take more than 5 seconds for us to decide not to put trash at the street this morning. It was kind of inevitable that pick up would be delayed, no? Thanks, Radnor for working hard to get the streets safe! We can wait for trash until later in the week.

Was in West Chester this morning for business, took one hour to drive home. Storm moved faster than expected, so why all the negative comments about trash pick-up? We have the best snowfall removal along the Main Line. If these posters used their brains, would not have gone to work or put trash out.

@Susan - not ALL of us have the luxury of staying home from work. I agree with Mr. Gillespie. Why wasn't this decision made last night? @Annie - people leave for work in some cases at 6am and don't get home till 7:00 pm. We didn't hear about this until 9:30am? Our trash is picked up typically before 8am so we make that choice the night before. The biggest issue is with radnor ordinance ticketing of residents whose trash is on the curb at the wrong times.
