Redistricting Plan Would Change Radnor's Reps

Preliminary plan alters who represents Radnor in Harrisburg.

If plans in Harrisburg come to pass, state reps in Radnor could shift in 2012. Following the 2010 Census, state officials analyzed the data and released a preliminary plan for redrawing districts through the state. Radnor Township would go from having three to two House members in the General Assembly.

The largest local impact is for Rep. Joseph Hackett (R-161). Currently representing Radnor, Hackett will see changes that cut off his district at West Chester Pike and add territory in lower Delaware County—thus Radnor would be out.

Hackett's area would be swallowed up by Rep. William Adolph Jr. (R-165). Adolph currently represents parts of Wayne and areas around Cabrini, Eastern and Villanova in Radnor. He would assume a larger portion of the township under the plan.

Also impacted is Rep. Greg Vitali (D-166). He currently occupies a small foothold in the township, but that will grow due to the redistricting, through most of St. Davids and Wayne along Lancaster Avenue. Vitali has publicly opposed portions of the plan, as it splits .

In the Senate, Daylin Leach (D-17) will retain his district with Radnor in place. The only change to the 17th District will be a pickup of Blue Bell, within Montgomery County.
