Media Matters is not "owned" by Soros. It's a non-profit. Nate Silver -- the most accurate poll analyst during the 2008 and 2010 elections -- has another detailed article posted today about Rasmussen bias. His lede spells out the bad news: "There’s no point in putting it gently: Mitt Romney had one of his worst polling days of the year on Wednesday." http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/27/sept-26-could-2012-be-like-2008/ Here are more sources debunking the "oversampling Democrats" myth: http://www.nationaljournal.com/2012-presidential-campaign/republicans-to-pollsters-too-many-democrats-in-your-surveys-20120925?page=1 http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/the-morning-plum-no-pollsters-are-not-conspiring-to-destroy-romney/2012/09/25/cf6c2af4-06fb-11e2-a10c-fa5a255a9258_blog.html

Non-profit does not ensure impartiality. Your comments are still proving my point. So I'll offer you as my source. Thank you.
Dave Hoag September 27, 2012 at 03:42 PM
There's no hope for you Mary if you refuse to face facts and insist on hiding your head in the sand by broadly dismissing everything you don't like as "liberal." If you've never heard of Nate Silver, then you clearly don't know much about election polling. Get back to us after the election and we'll see who was correct.
mary kushner September 27, 2012 at 03:48 PM
Never heard of Nate Silver other than hmmm.. seeing him on liberal MSNBC. I would not believe it or anything in New York Times. Why is media pushing polls hour after hour is the question? To try and discourage voters from heading to polls on election day seems the likely answer.
Dave Hoag September 27, 2012 at 04:31 PM
Pamela, your comment makes no sense. Address the issue -- if you can -- and don't make ad hominem remarks about me.
Dave Hoag September 27, 2012 at 04:34 PM
Mary, you really need to get past this "liberal media conspiracy" silliness. You're clinging to a tired canard and not providing any substantiation for your claims.
cast4 September 27, 2012 at 04:36 PM
So what is your favorite news source? I'd be interested to hear your answer.
mary kushner September 27, 2012 at 04:54 PM
Why is liberal media pushing polls every hour it seems? They want to discourage voters from coming out on election day. After all, if they can try and convince you that Obama is way ahead of polls then people will stay home on election day which is precisely what they want. Don't believe any of it!!!

The conservative Wall Street Journal is a pro-Romney newspaper, has endorsed Romney and features columns written by Romney and Karl Rove. It is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who also owns Fox News. The most recent Wall Street Journal poll showed Obama leading Romney 50-45. It also showed Obama ahead in Ohio (50-43), in Florida (49-44), and in all the other swing states, except North Carolina. Similarly, conservative Fox News has a strong pro-Romney stance and is owned by Rupert Murdoch. The most recent Fox News poll shows Obama leading Romney 48-43. Fox News also shows Obama leading Romney in Ohio (49-42), Florida (49-44), and in all other swing states except North Carolina. If pro-Romney, conservative outlets like the Wall Street Journal and Fox News have polls showing Obama handily beating Romney, are they part of this alleged liberal conspiracy, too?
mary kushner September 27, 2012 at 06:12 PM
Everyone please listen to 106.9 FM tomorrow Friday. Mitt Romney will be on and yes tell all of us that Pennsylvania IS in play and let's all pray that he wins. We have 6 trillion in new Obama debt, 23 million people out of work, 47 million now on food stamps, an unemployment rate still over 8% (and we were promised after a failed trillion stimulus that it would be below 6%.) Not to mention Middle East on fire with threat of nuclear Iran within months now. Who do you trust? Obama is a liar and has complacent media feeding into his lies. He has done nothing but destroy us economically as we end up as Greece.

To all you haters, I just got my tickets online. And to all of you regurgitating stuff you found on the internet, why don't you try to formulate an original thought, it feels good!
Pamela September 27, 2012 at 08:36 PM
Dave I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I am not attacking your character. My point is this - you started your commentary with this comment, "I wonder if he just wants some photo op material showing him surrounded by men and women in military uniforms". That is not addressing an issue and my mistake was replying in the first place. My apologies to all. Good night.

This is the best source for polls: http://election.princeton.edu/2012/09/23/using-predictions-for-ideals-and-profit/
Publius 2.0 September 27, 2012 at 08:53 PM
While you probably never heard of Princeton University, their polling has been on-target for the last 4 presidential election cycles. To visit, click here http://election.princeton.edu/2012/09/23/using-predictions-for-ideals-and-profit/ To save you some time, Romney is cooked. The President has a 92% probability of winning. More significantly, many of the tea party know-nothings will be turned out of office. So, have fun at the Mitt-loser rally on the Main Line.
Publius 2.0 September 27, 2012 at 08:57 PM
How's this. Bin Laden is Dead. General Motors is Alive. Mitt is so patriotic his money needs a passport. It summers in the Cayman Islands and winters on the slopes of the Swiss Alps.
Jane Frankland September 27, 2012 at 09:55 PM
Poor, poor Mary. Mitt Romney says a lot of things, most of which are not true. (Remember, it's the conservative party that has no time for fact checkers.) There is no hope for you, unless you stop watching Fox News.
Dave Hoag September 27, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Hannah, the new Wall Street Journal poll released today shows Obama ahead in North Carolina also.
Dave Hoag September 27, 2012 at 11:36 PM
Obama inherited a country in an economic freefall, with job losses of nearly 800,000 a month, with a housing bust that wiped 3.2 trillion out of the economy, with a stock market that plunged to half its previous high, not to mention inheriting incompetently handled wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan -- all disasters caused by Republicans. Now look where we are: Al Qaeda is devastated, Bin Laden is dead, Gadhafi is dead, the stock market is back to its previous highs, corporate profits are at an all-time high, housing is rebounding, the GDP has been growing steadily, and we've had close to three years of positive job growth. We cannot afford another silver spoon Republican like Mitt Romney who is more interested in protecting the wealthy than in protecting America, who hides his money overseas he's so unpatriotic. Electing Romney would be like electing George W. Bush to a third term.
Cedric Glover September 27, 2012 at 11:54 PM
If PA is in play why is Mitt Romney closing his campaign offices here and laying off staff? Why did Mitt Romney cancel his PA ads?
Cedric Glover September 27, 2012 at 11:59 PM
Publius, Mary and her friends will probably tell you that anything coming out of a socialist university can't be believed. You know how it is - statistics, historical record, cold-hard facts - they're all made up by pinko commie socialists in Mary's world. Unless Rush or Faux News tells them it cannot be believed.

I'm trying to figure out why my post was deleted. I'm pretty sure asking a question is not inappropriate. I was wondering what Mary's favorite news source was? What's wrong with that?
citizen john September 28, 2012 at 01:21 AM
Wow, you libs are amazing. Do you have freaking rocks in your head? You all remind me of the woman who is repeatedly beaten by her abusive husband, yet goes back for more. What has this fraud done in 3.5 years? Broken promise after broken promise. Oh, right, he focused all of his attention on his "legacy", obamacare, instead of the main event "the economy". Where do you numbskulls think we'll be with another 5 trillion in debt? Oh, right, we'll just keep on printing money til we make our currency worthless! Who would you hire-a man who has taken failing companies and made them a success, or a man who has taken a country in trouble and plunged it to the brink of the abyss? Mr President...YOU"RE FIRED!!!! Vote for America, patriotism, and family values..something you libs have forgotten and lost.
Linda G September 28, 2012 at 01:32 AM
Gas is more than double, true unemployment is 11-16 percent, the only govt motors customer is the govt, but I guess that's like printing your own money... Bid laden was killed by our military and bush's policies, we don't need anyone to tell us what we can and cannot eat, more people than ever before on food stamps, we are being forced to pay for others abortions regardless of the term of the baby, Bo-care shoved down our throats, geez, I could go on forever with this potus failures... WELCOME TO WAYNE, MITT!
citizen john September 28, 2012 at 01:35 AM
Oh, by the way, if Al Quaida is dead who killed our ambassador and three other Americans? Al Quaida and The Muslim Brotherhood are alive and well! As a matter of fact, we have no respect at all from our muslim "friends" since our administration is constantly apologizing and kissing their butts. Those riots were'nt because they hate America's guts and they want us converted or killed! They were because of a video, right? LOL...It took the admiistration TWO WEEKS to admit the attacks were a preplanned "terrorist" event. They lied to the American public for two weeks! The "president" won't even say the word terrorist, since he has gotten rid of the boogeyman, right? Nope, they're his buddies that he's blending into our government. This lying administration and you obamabots are disgraceful and you sicken me. Who's unpatriotic? Wake up people!!! Make sure you vote!!
citizen john September 28, 2012 at 01:52 AM
Oh, another note, since you've gotten me started...Mary and LInda-good points! All of you Obama supporters cannot stand Mitt because he is wealthy...Hmmm last I checked, Obama and his cronies seem pretty well off to me. Or did Obama quit his job as a trash collector in "08 to run on the ticket? Oh, right he never had a job, unlike Mr Romney who built his success from the ground up!! That's the American dream right? Or is the American dream what our POTUS tells us...Success is bad!! Mediocrity and equality for all!! You did'nt build that!! (nope, I did'nt take that out of context; my ears work quite well). I am a small businessman and I did build it!! That is why you, Mr. President, will NEVER get my vote or my support!! WELCOME to Wayne, Mitt!!! Go get em in November!!
Publius 2.0 September 28, 2012 at 02:35 AM
Citizen John, I agree with Mitt Romney's support for the individual mandate and universal health care on the state level and agree that it should be the policy for the nation. I also agree with Mitt's strong pro-choice policies until he changed them. I further agree that the country needs Michigan. I just disagree with Mitt's etcha sketch flip flops such as letting Detroit fail, off-shoring all our manufacturing jobs, redistributing wealth from the middle class to the wealthy by eliminating the mortgage interest deduction but retaining the carried-interest loophole for hedge funds, decimating medicare and medicaid so seniors all have to enter state institutions if they have a stroke or need daily nursing, and generally enriching billionaires at the expense of the rest of us. I am a small business person too, but my business would not have been successful without the help of friends, bankers, government infrastructure, including online infrastructure, neighbors and our local, state and regional community. So, like the President, I truly think we're all in this together and even the 47% count. Mitt just doesn't fit. Don't take it personally. He's going to lose BIG. Four more years for Barack Obama!
Publius 2.0 September 28, 2012 at 03:03 AM
One more thing, John, I could care less about Romney's wealth. What I do resent, however, is that he is the ultimate taker while he derides those who he accuses of "taking." He dodged the draft. His father dodged the draft. His sons have never served this country. Yet, he says veterans who receive veterans benefits are takers, and his party wants to take those benefits away. Indeed, the GOP refused to pass the veterans jobs bill just days before adjourning to campaign. Worse, they rejected the first responders bill to help 911 responders. So, instead of calling others who disagree with you nasty names, perhaps you should check your own patriotism. Mitt is no economic patriot, no help to veterans, no help to women, no help to diplomacy, no help to education, no help to manufacturing, no help to main street, no help at all. He's an outsourcing pioneer, who will outsource our talent and out treasure to the Cayman Islands and the Swiss Alps.

Thanks Mary. BTW Dave keeps quoting dem/lib leaning references, not invalid but not objective by a long shot: media matters, NYTimes (Nate Silver whose analysis has been more schitzo than objective criticising it sometimes, endorsing it others (2008)), Talking Points Memo to name a few. While it's true during his first pres election prediction (2000) Rasmussen was off by 4.5% since then he's been within a percentage point and even becoming the first to point out changes in trends- Sen Brown-Mass, house gains in 2010, Gov races, etc. his batting average is pretty solid. Not sure what we in PA will do, certainly not basing my vote on those polls, but I was shocked to learn recently that my faithful dem family members are actually on board for Romney.
Susan September 28, 2012 at 09:02 AM
Don't pay any attention to them, they're chattering up every article. We're going to finish what started in 2010. There's a lot of voters out there willing to crawl over broken glass to remove 0bama from office.
Agnes October 10, 2012 at 10:03 PM
So, what are the latest teabagger conspiracy theories on the liberal media and polls (other than Rasmusen), now that most are reporting Romney ahead?
