South Wayne Intersection Changes

Drivers find themselves facing new curves near the intersection of Windermere Avenue.

In an effort , Radnor Township has changed the intersection to require drivers travelling north on South Wayne to stop at the Windermere intersection before continuing and those travelling south to slow and make more of a "turn" to continue south.

Township officials had previously called the intersection is “wide,” “unmarked” and “uncontrolled.”

Commissioner Don Curley, the local ward official who championed the change, told Radnor Patch Tuesday that it "seems to perform as anticipated."

But there will likely be a learning curve with the road's new curves. Radnor Patch observed some confusion by drivers and noticed one driver going south driving so fast around the curve that he drove far into the opposing lane.

Also, the new stop signs for those driving north are yards away from the painted line of the Windermere intersection. Do drivers stop at the signs (which we saw many do) and the line?

"If there is a particular concern regarding the location of the stop sign relative to the stop bar then we would need to have our staff address it and advise us accordingly," Curley said.

Have you driven through the new intersection? What do you think of it?
