Spingler Elected Radnor Board President

It is the first presidency for the long-time commissioner, whose intent this term is to have the township purchase part of the Ardrossan Estate.

Bill Spingler, the five-term Radnor Commissioner representing its Third Ward, was elected president of the Board of Commissioners by his fellow elected officials Monday.

Fellow Democrat Elaine Paul Schaefer, of the Fourth Ward, was elected vice president.

The two Republican commissioners on the board — Kevin Higgins (Ward 2) and Don Curley (Ward 6) — neither voted for Spingler nor Schaefer, and offered up no nominees for the leadership positions.

Both Spingler and Schaefer have run on preserving a portion of the Ardrossan Estate, which could be developed at any time. . The vote margin was in single digits.

On Monday, Spingler, , and were sworn-in for another term. , was commissioner there in the 1980s and 1990s and ran again successfully last year.

Schaefer will chair the Library Committee and the Open Space Committee of the board. Jim Higgins will chair Public Works and Sewer. Kevin Higgins will chair Personnel and Administration. John Fisher will chair Public Health. DOn Curley will chair Community Development. And John Nagle will chair the Parks and Recreation Committee.
