Suit Filed Over Radnor Field Lease

A group of Radnor citizens have filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County.

A group of Radnor citizens have filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County seeking a Declaratory Judgment and Injunction against Radnor Township and in connection with a lease granting the private girls’ school the right to construct a turf field and stadium on township-owned .

The park sits near the intersection of King of Prussia and Matsonford roads and was donated to the township by the Sun Company.

The Citizens to Keep Radnor Parks Public avers that the lease agreement is illegal under Pennsylvania public trust laws, the Radnor Township Zoning Code and the Covenants Agreement among Radnor Township, the and Radnor Center Associates.

Radnor’s Board of Commissioners approved a lease last month with the school.

Fronefield Crawford is a former solicitor for Radnor Township, and Clint Stuntebeck is a former solicitor for Radnor Township Zoning Board and a former president of the Radnor Board of Commissioners. Both are serving as counsel for the plaintiffs.

Radnor commissioner John Nagle and township solicitor John Rice both declined to comment because they had not seen the complaint.
