TVs, Computers to Stop Being Part of Trash Pick-Up

The Covered Device Recycling Act, passed in November 2010, includes a disposal ban.

 

Beginning Jan. 24, 2013, Pennsylvania residents will no longer be able to put old computers and televisions out with the trash, Radnor Township is warning its citizens.

The Covered Device Recycling Act, passed in November 2010, includes a disposal ban that prohibits landfills from accepting desktop and laptop computers, their components, and televisions starting at the above date.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Act establishes a recycling program for certain covered devices and imposes duties on manufacturers and retailers of covered devices, amongst other things.

Radnor Township will not haul away those items as trash after the Act takes effect.
