Tonight: Community Invited to Discussion on Teen Mental Health, Feb. 11

Students, parents and community members are invited to attend a panel discussion on teen mental health presented by Radnor Township School District and other mental health professionals and the family of the late Sunil Tripathi, a 2008 Radnor High School graduate, on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Radnor Township Building, 301 Iven Ave., Wayne. The event is co-hosted by Radnor High School's Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK), Radnor Encouraging Awareness, Communication and Hope for our community (REACH), and the Radnor Board of Health.

Mrs. Judy Tripathi and her son, Ravi, will speak about Sunil’s struggle with the onset of mental health issues and his tragic death. Other panelists will include:

  • Dr. Janice Hillman, adolescent and young adult physician at Penn Medicine, who will discuss the warning signs, triggers and risk factors of deteriorating or onset mental illness;
  • Dorothy Lowery, RHS & Radnor Middle School crisis coordinator and school psychologist, who will discuss what Radnor High School offers to teens and families seeking assistance and help with mental illness;
  • Jennifer Mills, the founder of Roots & Wings, LLC, who will discuss mindfulness strategies and her involvement at Radnor Middle School; and
  • David McKeighan from the Delaware County Suicide Prevention and Awareness Task Force, who will discuss what Delaware County offers to teens and families seeking assistance and help with mental illness.
A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
