Radnor Middle School Eighth-Graders Take on Hunger

Radnor Middle School held its annual "Eighth Grade vs. Hunger Day" on Monday.

held its annual “Eighth Grade vs. Hunger Day” on Monday, Nov. 21. The students participated in a variety of activities aimed at providing food to the needy. They also heard from a representative from Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization.

Among the service-oriented projects, students participated in a “canstruction” where they designed various structures from the thousands of canned goods they had previously collected; made soup and assembled snack bags for donation to Manna on Main Street, a soup kitchen that serves the needy in the North Penn area; made breakfast bags for donation to the Salvation Army; created Thanksgiving decorations and assembled relief boxes for a local shelter; planted seeds for donation to local farms that provide produce to area food pantries; and clipped and organized coupons for donation.

The canned goods will be donated to Philabundance as part of 93.3 WMMR’s “Camp Out for Hunger” program. Canned goods are being accepted through Wed., Nov. 30.
