Whiz Kid: Arnav Jagasia

This 13-year old academic maven is a competitive musician, makes his own travel movies, and has a seriously mature career path in mind.

Every week Radnor Patch spotlights the accomplishments of local children and teenagers. Nominations for the Whiz Kid of the Week can come from local schools, churches, scouts, youth groups or any individual and can be for a variety of scholastic, athletic or service-oriented deeds. This week’s “Whiz Kid” is Arnav Jagasia, a seventh grader at .

Accomplishments: Arnav has qualified for the Pennsylvania State Geography Bee for the past two years, and in 2011 he finished fifth in a field of 101 contestants. He has been a talented pianist who began playing at age five. He competes in the Philadelphia Music Teachers Association Festival and the Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival every year . He has received 'superior' and 'excellent' ratings. Arnav enjoys composing his own music and plays the euphonium in the school band. He also participates in karate tournaments and is training at the Amkor Karate Institute in Bryn Mawr for his black belt. Arnav is an advanced language arts and accelerated math student at school.

Keys to Awesomeness: Arnav is a dynamic, refined, and genuine kid with an enthusiastic and animated personality, excellent public speaking skills and is quite a computer geek. He enjoys playing tennis. Arnav’s teachers always remark about how “he is a natural leader with great compassion and respect for his classmates”. He's passionate about geography, world cultures, foreign languages (is bilingual) and technology. He enjoys traveling and makes movies of all of his vacation trips. His unique skill is his knowledge of the capitals of every country. When Arnav grows up, he wants to be an U.S. ambassador or UN diplomat.
