Archbishop Carroll's Season Could Take An Early Turn

Patriots' quarterback Jalal Timmons will find out this week about the status of his right knee.

The football team will collectively hold its breath today when quarterback Jalal Timmons undergoes an MRI to check out his right knee, which was injured late in the second quarter of ’s 30-20 victory over Radnor.

This could place some added heat on junior running back Eric Massenberg to take more of a role with the Patriots’ offense. Massenberg rushed for 80 yards on eight carries, including a pair of touchdowns and runs of 23 and 24 yards, averaging 10 yards a carry.

“I think I’m ready to take over for Jalal, if that’s what we need,” Massenberg said. “We don’t know how badly Jalal hurt his knee, but we’ll have to all come together to make up for all the things he does.”

There was an output dropoff after Timmons left the game in the second half. Back-up quarterback Sal Bello, a junior, led the Pats to a second-half touchdown that added some cushion to a large lead, but after that, Carroll could do little on offense.

A curious stat is the amount of touches Massenberg got in the second half. He carried the ball just once after halftime. That could change if Timmons is lost for any extended period.
