Buy Phillies’ Tickets and Help a Local Trainer

Club La Maison employee Shannon Murphy needs to sell 300 tickets to throw out the first pitch in a Phils game.

The first time Shannon Murphy attended a Phillies game she was so petrified she could barely move sitting in one of the blue seats in the 700 level of Veterans Stadium. She was five then—with her father sitting next to her, convinced he’d catch a foul ball.

Now the 23-year-old personal trainer can’t get enough of Philadelphia’s most popular pro sports franchise—and she’s ready to take her passion to new heights.

She’s just going to need a little help from you, and you, and you to achieve it.

Part of Murphy’s Phillies’ “bucket list” is to throw out the first pitch of a Phillies’ game. So while surfing the Internet in January, looking to make a night out for her co-workers at Club La Maison in Wayne, Murphy came across something interesting that could make it all possible—selling 500 tickets to the Phillies’ game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, April 18, which is Dollar Dog Night at Citizens Bank Park.

So far, Murphy has reached the 200-ticket mark but has hit a wall. She needs to sell the additional 300 (in the 422-423 sections behind home plate, priced at $26/per ticket) by the March 18 deadline or the tickets will go back into public circulation.

Club La Maison has been spearheading Murphy’s campaign, adorning the health and wellness fitness facility with flyers of Shannon’s face, urging the 3,000 members to look into a night at the Phillies.

Club general manager Chris Dwyer was heavily instrumental in the move, securing the 500 tickets with a $500 deposit—now it’s up to Phillies’ fans in the area to step up.

“We put up signs all over the gym; we put out a newsletter and we have a program guide with all the classes we offer, the first 200 sold really fast,” Murphy said. “It’s Dollar Dog Night, it’s against a good team. We’re trying to make it a night where we can promote the club and the community. We’re hoping to get the Radnor/Wayne area to enjoy a night at the game.”

Murphy said that the Phillies have always been the number-one team for her, and she has traveled to watch them play in cities across the country.

“I’m a very positive person and if I tell myself I’m going to make it happen, I want to make it happen,” said Murphy, a 2006 Springfield High School graduate and 2010 West Chester University graduate.

“I want to throw out that first pitch and stand out there on the mound and I want 43,000 people out there looking at me.”

She said she doesn’t want to waste the curveball she’s been working on, then she laughed.

“I’ve been practicing. I want to show people what I have. I see a World Series. The fan in me will always see a World Series championship. I’m a typical Phillies fan. You root for you when you’re good and boo you when you’re bad. But in the end, I’ll always be cheering for the Phillies.”
