Radnor Boys Crew Club reported on the start of its fall crew season.
Sunday, October 6 kicked off the fall 2013 crew season with the Head of the Christina head race in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Radnor Boys Crew Club raced 7 boats in the 2.75 mile head race. This race is considered to be a great practice for the Head of the Charles in Boston later this month. Head races are time trial / processional races, where the boats begin with a rolling start at intervals of 10 – 20 seconds, and are timed over a set distance.
The Radnor Boys Crew Club results are as follows:
· The Junior 4+ A boat, with Connor Kerpius, Alex Chain, Jack Breen, George Walker and coxswain Zach Pepper, finished first and scored a gold medal.
· The Junior 4+ B boat, with Brandon Lorenz, Stephen Fitch, Kevin Janson, Ryan Borowski and coxswain Cole Appelman finished 4th out of 18 boats.
· The Freshman/Novice 8+, with Noah Morris, Milo Wilton, Jack Dwyer, Will Vaughn, Jack Boudreau, Aiden Donnelly, Matt Kellett, Jake Fox and coxswain Josh Anderson, continued RBCC’s history of strong finishes at the Head of the Christina, coming in second out of 7 boats.
· Making his rowing debut in the Youth single (1x) event, Henry Leonardi took third place.
