Whiz Kid: Marin Bloise

The sporty teen excels as both a teammate and a solo athlete.

Starting this week, Radnor Patch will spotlight the accomplishments of local children and teenagers. Nominations for the Whiz Kid of the Week can come from local schools, churches, scouts, youth groups or any individual and can be for a variety of scholastic, athletic or service-oriented deeds. To nominate a deserving kid, e-mail sam.strike@patch.com.

This week’s “Whiz Kid” is Marin Bloise, an eighth grader at Agnes Irwin School.

Accomplishment: Although she is in middle school, Marin placed second against high school varsity girls in the Inter-Academic League championships for diving.  Last week in Easterns, she placed fifth, again competing against varsity girls.  She also competed on Agnes Irwin’s varsity soccer team in the fall and plans to be on the varsity track team in the spring.

Key to Awesomeness: Nominator Emily Pretz says that Marin is a natural athlete and loves sports. Between Agnes Irwin diving and her club team, West Chester diving, she dives six to seven days a week in the winter season. "She works hard and has incredible self-motivation," according to Pretz. "She is also a supportive teammate."
