This Sunday, as the day draws to a close, the Jewish community will ring in year 5773 as part of their celebration of Rosh Hashanah, or the Jewish New Year. The festivities will continue until nightfall on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Congregation Shireinu will hold Rosh Hashanah services at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy in Bryn Mawr. On May 6, high school students from across the Philadelphia area put on gowns and tuxedos, walked a red carpet, and sang and danced the night away. No, it wasn't prom night—it was the Cappies Awards Gala, an awards ceremony celebrating the best of the Philadelphia region's high school theater productions. Representatives from 34 area high schools, including Barrack Hebrew Academy attended the awards ceremony—designed to be like the Tony Awards for high school students—at The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 6.
