Schools Gear Up for Another Academic Year

Local schools are excited about all of the upcoming events the 2011 - 2012 school year has in store.

The new school year is here. That means that it’s time to buy new notebooks, pencils, and book-bags. It also means that the local schools are gearing up for an extraordinary 2011-2012 school year. Academy of Notre Dame de Namur is looking forward to a lot of special events in the upcoming year. They will be hosting a Mother-Daughter Picnic on September 16th, celebrating Homecoming Weekend from October 14th to 16th and have Spirit Day on October 28th. In addition, the school will also host an Open House on November 6th, hold their annual Art Show from January 28th to February 5th and Blast, their annual auction on March 31st . Their Sunflower Run at Ridley Park will be on April 21st and the high school musical will run from May 3rd to May …

A Bright Year Lays Ahead for Radnor Elementary Schools

RTSD's elementary schools look forward to new programs and online student attendance records and standard based report cards.

The 2011-2012 school year looks like it is going to be an exciting one for the Radnor Township School District (RTSD) elementary schools. With many new academic programs and handy online tools to help parents, Radnor elementary schools are looking forward to their students returning for another year of learning and fun. One of the new additions to the academic roster for Fall 2011 is Reading, Writing and Vocabulary Materials. All of the RTSD elementary schools will be using the reading, writing and vocabulary materials published by the Developmental Studies Center. According to Literacy Coordinator, Maureen A. Radnor Middle and High Schools Get Ready for Another Year

While Radnor High School gets ready for homecoming week, Radnor Middle School adds a virtual lab for its students.

This upcoming school year is sure to be a very exciting one for Radnor Middle School. Not only do they have many special events throughout the year, they will also be expanding one of their integrated programs, called Gateways/STEM, from 40 to 80 students. “STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math,” said Radnor Middle School Principal, Anthony Stevenson. “It is designed to get kids more involved and interested in the areas of math and science. They will attend their regular classes but at the same time have a focus around the STEM program.” Radnor Middle School is also opening up a virtual lab that will allow their students to connect with other schools from around the world.
