Republican Candidates Still Leading in 19087 Donations

Almost $1.3 million has been donated to candidates and Political Action Committees.

Republican candidates and organizations have received 66 percent of federal campaign donations from the 19087 zip code so far in the 2012 election cycle. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, a research group that tracks money in U.S. politics, the Republican National Committee is the top recipient with $170,112 in donations from here. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a lead in donations over President Barack Obama in the Greater Philadelphia area. In 19087, the challenger's campaign has earned $95,550 while Obama stands at $74,117. More than $1 million has been donated to candidates and Political Action Committees.

Republican candidates and organizations have received 63 percent of federal campaign donations from the 19087 zip code so far in the 2012 election cycle. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, a research group that tracks money in U.S. politics, the Republican National Committee is the top recipient with $163,612 in donations from here. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a slight lead in donations over President Barack Obama in the Greater Philadelphia area. In 19087, the challenger's campaign has earned $85,600 while Obama stands at $54,123. Getting Romney Elected Goal of New Republican Chair

Alan Brink has succeeded Mimi Auchincloss as chair of the Radnor Republican Party.

Radnor resident and former Radnor School Board member Alan Brink was elected chair of the Radnor Republican Party on June 7. Not even a week in on the job, Brink spoke to Radnor Patch about the Party and what he hopes to accomplish. Getting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney elected is the goal for the next five months, he said. President Barack Obama won Radnor in 2008, so “It’ll be very interesting what happens.” But Brink said he is cautiously optimistic, predicting that there will be fewer college voters showing up en mass to vote Democratic. Radnor Candidate to Hold Rally

A number of Democratic candidates will be at the event Saturday.

George Badey, the St. Davids resident who is running for Congress in Pennsylvania's 7th District on the Democratic ticket, will have a GOTV Rally on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. on the Media Courthouse steps with elected officials and other candidates for office. Volunteers will hear from elected officials and candidates before heading out to canvass neighborhoods throughout Delaware County. Also at the event will be State Representative Greg Vitali, (HD-166) Patricia Worrell, Democratic candidate for State Senate (SD-7), Larry Demarco, Democratic candidate for State Representative (HD-161), and Beth Alois, Democratic candidate for State Representative (HD-168).

Primary Election is “Practice” for Voter ID

County Council alerts residents to new Pennsylvania Voter ID requirements.

  With just weeks until the April 24 Primary Election, Delaware County Council and county election officials want to educate residents about the new voter ID law, which takes effect in November  in Pennsylvania. Even though the law doesn’t go into effect until the Nov. 6 General Election, voters will be asked to show photo ID at the polling place on April 24 as part of a “soft rollout” of the new requirement. Poll workers will be required to request ID in the Primary Election, but voters can still vote a regular ballot if they do not have photo ID. The Department of State (DOS) requires that all poll workers across the Commonwealth present voters with a half-page handout detailing information on the ID requirement.  “This is a significant …

Absentee Ballot Deadline Approaching

The deadline for applications for absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17.

MEDIA–At a council meeting on March 28, county Councilman David J. White announced that the Delaware County Election Bureau will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 14, for the purpose of distributing absentee ballots for use in the Presidential Primary Election to be held on April 24, according to a county press release. The deadline for applications for absentee ballots is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. All voted absentee ballots must be received by the county's Election Bureau by 5 p.m. Friday, April 20. Extended office hours for voting in person by absentee ballot is Saturday prior to the last Tuesday (before the election) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., according to the Election Bureau.
