U.S. Representative Pat Meehan (PA-7) sponsors and organizes the 7th District Congressional High School Art Competition to honor and encourage student artists. The work of students from Delaware, Montgomery and Chester County high schools was on display at the Wayne Art Center. Various forms of art media are considered and judged against one another. Congratulations go to Radnor High School students (from left to right, front to back rows): Ashley Dougherty, Colby Walker, Allie McShea, Taylor Olson, Emma Bolton, Eunice Lee, Cat Enders, Jena Mainardi and Julia Reichert. Special kudos go to Julia Reichert who won second place in Painting and Eunice Lee who won second place in Mixed-Media.

Radnor Middle School has been named a 2012 Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. On this week's episode of Patch Presents Sam Strike interviews administrators, students and a teacher who helped the Radnor School District receive this designation. Anthony Stevenson, principal, Leo Bernabei, director of operations, Banny Ackerman, teacher in the Watershed program, and three seventh-graders are this week's guests. One of the best known and prolific architects to have called Radnor home was David Knickerbacker Boyd. Born in 1872, some of Boyd's earliest designs were for the Wayne Estate and developers Wendell & Smith. This was in the 1890s, when the neighborhoods of North Wayne and St. Davids were largely built, but a few lots were still to be built upon and exciting new ventures such as Overbrook Farms were on the drawing boards. David Boyd is hardly a household name in Radnor today, although his work is still immediately recognizable by anyone familiar with the township. This image is the first in a series highlighting D.K. Carl Rosin, a teacher at Radnor High School and the chair of its English department, has been named a recipient of the 2012 Delaware County Excellence in Teaching Award, presented by the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) and the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union. The award recognizes exceptional, innovative teachers whose dedication has left a strong and lasting influence on their students. “The thing that matters most to me is that I come up with a class that rewards people for their curiosity,” said Rosin, who has taught at Radnor High School for 13 years. “I want kids to understand how the world is an interesting place and that means I have to be continually taking my cues from them to make sure that I’m coming up with stuff …

The Radnor School District's PSSA performance ranks fourth out of 500 school districts in Pennsylvania, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.
Radnor Township School District ranks 4 among 500 school districts in Pennsylvania, based off of their performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) Exam, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times. The Pittsburgh Business Times recently released its 2012 Guide of Western Pennsylvania Schools. The guide lists the school district rankings on the PSSA scores statewide. The formula for the ranking takes into account three years of PSSA test scores in math, reading, writing and science, according to The Business Journals. Three years of scores are considered, with the current year given the most weight. Radnor School District ranked above all other Delaware County school districts. It ranked just behind neighboring …
Radnor's school board considering a tax hike that three of its members oppose.
On Tuesday a majority of Radnor's school board approved a preliminary budget that would represent a real estate tax increase of 3.28 percent, reports Main Line Media News. “We haven’t seen a projection … of this year’s operating expenses,” school board member Pattie Booker is quoted as saying. “There are people who cannot afford this.” Republicans Booker, Susan Michaelson and Charles Madden voted against the preliminary budget. March is Youth Art Month.
Original artwork by kindergarten through 12th-grade students from Radnor Township School District was recently on display in celebration of Youth Art Month at Radnor High School. A special reception was held Thursday, March 15. The Pennsylvania Department of Education designates March as Youth Art Month to emphasize the value of art education for all students and to encourage public support for quality school art programs.
