The Wayne Senior Center benefitted from a recent Kentucky Derby party.
Paramour, the Wayne restaurant, presented the Wayne Senior Center with a check for $6,996 on Monday. The donation was from proceeds from ticket sales from Paramour's Kentucky Derby party. This year was the second year that the restaurant threw the party, complete with Derby-inspired hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps and traditional hats. It was the first year that the event benefitted the nearby senior center. The decision to donate proceeds to the senior center was made by Wayne Hotel and Paramour owner Steve Bajus. Susan Shapiro, executive director of the Wayne Senior Center, said they were "humbed and honored" to be the beneficiary of the event. Paramour will host its Second Annual Kentucky Derby Party.
Paramour is holdings its Second Annual Kentucky Derby Party, which will benefit the Wayne Senior Center. On Saturday, May 4 from 3 to 6 p.m. the Wayne restaurant will be offering Derby-inspired hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps, specially reserved wines and sweets while they watch the race events live in the Lobby Lounge and out on the Veranda. Guests can enter Paramour’s Best Dressed for the Derby Contest where first, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the best men’s and women’s Derby outfits. Tickets are $50 per person; all ticket proceeds supporting the Wayne Senior Center. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at Paramour. In November Radnor Patch reported that the Wayne Senior Center and Radnor Township were exploring the possibility of moving the senior citizen organization into the underused municipal building. This week Main Line Media News is reporting that representatives from the center, which is on Station Road in Wayne across from the train station, are in talks with township officials to relocate its operation. The senior center is located on Station Avenue in downtown Wayne in a building owned by the township. The newspaper reports: ...the senior center would occupy the township building’s second floor, and members would enter the facility from the ground-level entrance near the police department and then take an elevator to the second floor. “…

The organization that caters to senior citizens is in talks with Radnor Township about moving into its space.
The Wayne Senior Center and Radnor Township are exploring the possibility of moving the senior citizen organization into the underused municipal building. Radnor's township building is operating at "an inefficient 39% utilization rate," which includes the use by its tenant of two years PAISBOA, said manager Bob Zienkowski. "The inefficient use coupled with the extraordinary expense for constructing and maintaining this building has kept us looking for ways to offset our day-to-day operating expenses for this facility," Zienkowski told Radnor Patch.
